Asheville Capoeira Classes have moved to a new larger space with the goal of joining other social justice minded artists in community-based art work. Mestre Pe de Chumbo to return as instructor in residence!
Mestre Pe de Chumbo will return later this year to teach regular classes at the Asheville Culture Project for 4 weeks! Check back for specifics on special workshops in Boston, Asheville, and Saint Louis. We are honored to have our founder, director, master, and great friend back in the house! Be sure to come to as many classes as possible prior to his arrival so that you have the basics and are able to obtain the full benefits of his teachings. COME PLAY!
Arts for Haiti
The Asheville Capoeira group is proud to have participated in the "Arts for Haiti" event held at the ACP. The event featured performances by various local artists and performers in support of the people of Haiti. We look forward to future events at the ACP!
St Louis/ Asheville Capoeira Encounter a Success
Five St Louis Capoeira Angola students recently visited Asheville NC to help the Capoeira Asheville group in their efforts to establish a new community arts space. Asheville Capoeira Students Return From Brazil
Six Asheville Capoeira students returned from Brazil last month (August) with new knowledge, perspective and appreciation for the traditional form of Capoeira Angola. During the trip students attended a week long capoeira conference (attended by Angoleiros world-wide), studied under traditional capoeira Mestres, and were immersed in the culture, knowledge and heritage of Capoeira Angola.
